I'm from that lost generation: too young to be a beatnik; too old to be a hippie.
The heart as an organ of perception
I'm still in the process of reading the book that the previous entry comes from. Much of it is a scientific explanation of how the heart is not just a pump for the blood, but is an organ of rperception, like the brain, only more important in that the brain only allows us to figure things out while the heart, if we so use it, is a means of directly experiencing reality. The sub-title of the book is "The Intelligence of the heart in the direct perception of nature".
I've already bought 3 copies for other people since my reading of it is so slow I don't want to wait until I finish it to loan it out.
